Winter Retreat 2009

Here is a brief list of what happened that weekend:
1. Danced in front of everyone by myself.
2. Learned some line dance.
3. The driver of the bus got in an argument in the middle of the street with a man who hit our bus (don't worry no one hurt) but it was a new experience. He stopped traffic going both ways and stood in front of the other car before they finally drove off.
4. Played a really intense version of capture the flag.
5. Almost won a "jumping over the rope" contest that at first was a limbo contest.
6. Became friends with a very crazy and tall 18 year old Tico named Alfonzo.
7. Protected my egg from being smashed all weekend, but at first I didn't realize it was a game so I was giving other people my chicken eggs because I thought they were for food or something.
8. Played a game in which you had to put water in your mouth and then spit it into a bottle. My team one.
9. Used that same water two more times for two more games and we won all of them.
10. Gelled my hair.
11. Accompanied a Tica on a date to the cafeteria (didn't know this was happening till right before hand).

There are lots of pictures and videos of this but I don't have them so I will get them up when I get a hold of them.

I went on a Youth Retreat with my family's church in the mountains north of San Jose.

Mom I thought you would like this is a pretty plant/tree

San Jose at night from the mountains.

There was an unknown activity that night which the guys said I need to gel my hair for.

This activity turned out to be accompanying "dates" to dinner. We were each given flowers and had to walk up to the girls dorm and ask for a different girl they had assigned us to. I had Diane Castillo.

This is Mario being awesome as usual.

This flower is for Janet.

Jamie and Sarah hadn't been invited and were kind of upset about it because they were all ready for it. I am still very glad they came though.

Everything ended up being alright as Lauren's younger brother showed up to accompany the girls to the cafeteria.

  1. You said "I had Diane Castillo" and then I saw a picture of Mario and started cracking up. Then I scrolled down to read the correct inscription. Glad to see that his name is Mario and not Diane, and to know that he is awesome.

    Sounds like a sweet time.
